Stacey Whaley

Paper #4

Welcome back to the 25th Annual Academy Awards.  Wasn’t that a fabulous job by the “Bookworm Band”?   I bet you are all going to dash out and get their latest CD, featuring the songs, “Dewey Decimal Rag” and “The Periodical Polka”.

But now, back to the business you have all been waiting for.  Our next award is for Production of the Year.  There are three contestants up for the award this time… Let’s take a look:

Our first nominee is a reprisal of “Dental Work Without Novocaine,” starring Ivanna Hurt and Payne Full.  This story is set during World War II and is a charming love story between two students at the Auchwitz Dental Clinic.

Our second nominee is the “Oregon Writing Project,” starring a cast of unknowns including Stacey Whaley as a transformed and enthusiastically sarcastic teacher in a local public high school.  She shows remarkable development of writing character as she learns from other teachers around her.  Her bag of tricks is quite incredible after working with her supporting cast during production.

Our third nominee is “Magic, Myth, and Ancient Religion,” starring Krocko Hoowee and Vaar E. Gully Ball.  This exciting adventure showcases the latest screenplay by Stevador Bergschpiel about two documentary makers caught by cannibals in Africa.

            …and the winner is…

(sound of envelope being torn open)

…Stacey Whaley, The Oregon Writing Project!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  Wow, I never expected this to be so great!  First, thank you to the Academy.  Thank you to the producers, Nat Teich and Karen Antikajian, for creating a forum for such a creative outpouring.  It was synergy in action.  Thank you to my co-stars, Erika, Sara, Tricia, Kelley, Ken (The Fisherman) Elliot, Jain (a.k.a. the “Queen of Compost”), Vicki, Carol, Robin, Reta, Kelly (The Lizard) Gabriel, Shelly, Pat, Christianne, Frieda, Tami, Matt, and especially to Midge, without whom I never would have had the opportunity to meet Sven and Olga.  I’m sure I am forgetting someone… Thanks to all the folks behind the scenes—Tara and Jennifer, you guys are awesome!  Thanks especially to my response groups who encouraged me to grow so much.  You are all wonderful inspirations!!  Thanks to the Academy, as well.

During  this project, we all grew together as we spent out afternoons bouncing ideas off one another.  Each one of you has made a positive impact on me.  I have grown professionally in my craft and as an individual.  Thank you to the Academy.  Did I already say that?  I know I should stop- the monitor is telling me to wrap it up.  I just want to say thanks to the cast, the crew, the producers, my husband, Garth, my parents, Steve and Lynette, my brother, Eric, my second cousin, twice removed, Tasha, my husband’s best friend’s dog, Tucker—
