Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

Favorite authors reveal their writing secrets.

By Sandy Asher

How do we get our ideas as writers?  Sandy Asher tackles this topic by interviewing many different writers and including their ideas and stories in this book.  As an educator, this would be an incredibly valuable resource to have in my classroom.  I would use it for journal and paper topic ideas as well as ways to combat writers block.  I think that students would really enjoy reading (or being read) some of the stories that professional authors such as Lloyd Alexander, Patricia Reilly Giff, and Lois Lowry have included about their experiences with writers block.  It is nice to know that it happens to the big guys as much as it happens to the kids in my class.
