Second Life is an immersive digital world that is particularly well-suited to collaboration and professional development. Users around the globe can meet to teach and learn from each other. Second Life is an integral part of many of Oregon Writing Project’s outreach and professional development projects. Participants in the STELLAR Project meet in-world biweekly for training, practice, discussion, and progress reports. The OWP learning center, CATE Island, was developed specifically for the purpose of professional development sessions. Below is a 360° image of CATE Island in Second Life.
